The Tony and Mary Hulman Health Achievement Award was established in cooperation with The Indiana Public Health Foundation, Inc. by Mary F. Hulman and inaugurated on October 1, 1985 as Indiana's "PREMIER" Health Award in recognition of Indiana citizens and organizations whose efforts have resulted in a significant improvement to the human race.  The purpose of the awards is to create a positive image of health and to provide a forum through which a greater awareness of the contributions of health leaders is made known.

The Hulman Awards are presented by the Indiana Public Health Foundation, Inc. for distinguished and outstanding services in the fields of Environmental Health, Geriatrics and Gerontology, and Preventive Medicine and Public Health.  The Foundation also presents an award for Excellence in Health Science Research* and the Dr. Helen L. Scheibner Scholarship in Public Health and Life Sciences.  The IPHF also presents the Lifetime Award for Distinguished Service in Years of Health Advancement.

*The Excellence in Health Science Research Award provides a $500 financial reward to the recipient.  This award is funded through donations to the Health Science Research fund.  All such contributions are tax deductible under the 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit status of the Indiana Public Health Foundation, Inc.  General donations to the Foundation are also accepted, and these donations are entirely tax deductible.

An endowment for the Dr. Helen L. Scheibner Public Health and Life Sciences scholarship has been established.  Donations to the endowment/scholarship fund are being accepted, with the entire amount being tax deductible under the 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit status of the Foundation.  Additional information regarding the Scholarship is available by contacting helenscheibner@netscape.net

The Tony and Mary Hulman Health Achievement educational awards program is funded by the purchase of individual tickets or by table sponsors (purchasing a table for eight at a reduced cost) by colleagues, family, friends, and interested citizens.  A majority of the ticket/table cost also qualifies as a tax deductible contribution as per the 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit status of the Foundation.

 

 

Acknowledgement and receipts will be provided for all table and ticket purchases, and all donations to the funds listed above.
